2017 Year Review Blog

2017….it has been a pleasure.

The 2017 wedding season at Myres Castle is complete, over, finito... phew!

As a small team with high standards we have worked tirelessly both during the wedding weekends as well as during the week to ensure the castle is as close to perfect as possible. Hosting the final 10 weddings on consecutive weekends in the run up to the end of the season meant it was a wedding marathon for the team... good job we are all top athletes and specialise in sprint finishes!

After waving off the last of our wedding guests there is a sense of accomplishment tinged with sadness that its all over for another year. I’m sure we all suffer slightly from Empty Castle Syndrome during the off season!  So much planning, hard work and preparation goes into each and every couple’s special day and we genuinely welcome them not only into the castle but connect on a personal level. So, we technically make a bunch of new friends every year... which is a great perk of the job.

Over the off season we are busy as always, making upgrades and carrying out lots of essential maintenance to keep the castle in tip top condition. Wedding parties have been temporarily replaced with tradesmen completing a vast array of jobs. We are also very much looking forward to 2018 and conversing with our upcoming wedding couples and suppliers... 2018 is shaping up to another fantastic year for Myres Castle.

So, we smashed it, wedding season 2017 is done and dusted (literally and figuratively... we may need to take out shares in Mr Muscle polish next year to keep all the surfaces in the castle shiny!)

Thanks to all that contributed to our success and shared the good times. Roll on 2018... with a small break for Christmas and New Year of course... we work hard but we are not 100% crazy!
